My yoga journey began in 1999, when I was in my mid-20s. Prior to that, I used to play rugby and lift weights, which eventually led to debilitating hip and back pain. Despite undergoing an operation to relieve the issue, it only resulted in further complications. Seeking a lasting solution, I tried physiotherapy and osteopathy, but they offered only temporary relief. It was then that I received wise advice to attend my first Iyengar yoga class, and it turned out to be a revelation for me. The therapeutic nature of the postures brought immense relief to my body, and I immediately felt a positive shift inside me. It was clear that I had found the answer I was looking for.

From that moment on, I dedicated myself to the practice of Iyengar yoga relentlessly for a decade, spending three hours every day. With consistent practice, my sensitivity grew, allowing me to deeply connect with my body. As a result, I could identify the root causes of my hip and back pain: a misaligned sacroiliac joint and a compressed nerve in my lower spine. My newfound sensitivity enabled me to realign everything and gain control over my body. Little did I know, this was only the beginning of my journey.

Over those ten years of practice, I became a qualified Iyengar yoga teacher and pursued further training to reach level 3 teaching proficiency. Although I am no longer affiliated with the Iyengar Yoga Institute due to differences in ethos, I will forever be grateful for BKS Iyengar's teachings and guidance.
